Things To Know About Chem-Dry Carpet Cleaning

Posted on

If you are thinking about having your carpets cleaned, you have two main choices, steam cleaning and Chem-Dry. Steam cleaning involves the use of pressurized hot water and chemical cleaners that are injected into your carpet fibres and suctioned out. Chem-Dry is known as a carbonized cleaning method, and it may offer you some advantages over steam cleaning. Here are some important things to know about Chem-Dry so you can decide if it is right for you.

It Utilises Carbonation -- Unlike steam cleaning, which uses large amounts of hot water that soaks into your carpet, Chem-Dry uses carbonating solutions that help dislodge dirt and debris from your carpet fibres without drenching your carpet in water that may take days to dry. The carbonation process involves millions of microscopic bubbles that seep into the carpet and draw dirt to the surface so that it can be suctioned away. The carbonation has some moisture, but it uses far less water than steam cleaning, which is why it dries so much faster. Once the Chem-Dry cleanser has seeped into your carpet, a special machine is used to vacuum all the dirt and debris on the surface to leave behind clean fibres.

It Does Not Contain Toxins Or Chemicals -- The Chem-Dry system does not use any toxic chemicals as part of the carbonation cleaning process. The cleansers in the Chem-Dry system are organic, which makes Chem-Dry a 'green' process that will not harm the environment, and more importantly, it will not leave harmful chemicals behind when the cleaning is complete. Chem-Dry cleansers do not contain detergents, soaps or phosphates, and they will not leave any residue behind because they are all natural.

It Allows You To Use Your Carpet Quicker -- With steam cleaning, your carpet is typically not available for normal use for as many as two days, which can be an inconvenience. But because Chem-Dry uses so much less water, it dries within several hours and allows you to use your carpet the same day as the cleaning. This may not seem like a big deal, but remember that if you walk on a steam-cleaned carpet before it is dry, the dirt you leave will dry within the carpet fibers, and that negates the work that was just done. Chem-Dry does not have that same issue, and will leave your carpet fresh, clean and dry within a matter of hours.
